About oranarc
"Refinery Equipment Inspector-- I make a living analyzing and evaluating pressure vessels and fixed equipment in oil and chemical refineries. I've been riding motorcycles since 1967, both street and dirt. I've owned over a dozen motorcycles, and this Roadstar MS is the biggest pleasure of all of them to ride. Love its comfort and power, and the balance is excellent for its weight. This big V-twin begs to be ridden. With a stock 102 cubic inch engine coupled to a 5-speed tranny, its torque is impressive through the gears. Initially the carburetor was set up on the rich side when I had my Vance & Hines pipes installed. This was mainly due to the ultra conservative recommendations from the manufacturer of my air kit. My mileage got progressively worse after my pipes were installed. After doing a lot of reading and learning about the Mikuni carburetor and its jetting spectrum, I've arrived at what I feel is a solid setup, which is quite a bit leaner than the air kit recommendations. My bike runs like a scalded cat now, and the gas mileage is up around 50 MPG. Have to give Joel Parker, in Columbus, Ms.,a huge "thank you" for his technical advice on the "Roadstar Riders' Forum".
